T.H.I.N.K. Before You Post

T- is it TRUE?
H- is it HELPFUL?
I- is it INSPIRING?
N- is it NECESSARY?
K- is it KIND?

It’s human nature to remember the negative more than the positive. You can post nothing but positive things for ten weeks, and all it takes is ONE rant or ONE moment of emotion and drama for all of that positivity to be for nothing.

In this day that we live in, people are more divided than ever. As a business owner, we have to remember that if we are in the relationship business, we must work through our opinions offline.

“But Caity—I want to educate my friends on what’s REALLY going on. I want to speak out and I want to make sure everyone knows this side because it’s important.” I agree with you, but there is a way to go about it that won’t offend people. Have you ever heard the saying, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger?”

When you post publicly about your opinions in anger or frustration, you are opening yourself up to scrutiny. If instead you speak your truth in love and respect and keep it offline where someone can hear your voice and what you’re actually saying, the more likely it is that people will listen to you. People read posts in the mood they are in that day, so remember that no matter what happens, your best bet is going to be to stop and “T.H.I.N.K.” before you hit that post button.
