Why I Do What I Do

Every once in a while, you have those moments where you just get reminded of why you do what you do. If you have determined the direction in which you want your life to go, you have to know the reason why you want to go there or else it doesn’t work.

Well, tonight was one of those times for me. I was listening in to a corporate call that is on every Monday night, but for some reason this call came at the perfect time with the perfect stories.

More specifically, we heard about a woman who was a mother of four who lost her young son this past year.

She was so broken.

She said that the only thing that got her through the tough times was the support she got from people she didn’t know very well within It Works Global.

In order to explain why this impacted me so much, we’re going to have to back track a little bit. Way back when, at a time in my life where I had to choose what I wanted to do with my life for the rest of my life, aka choosing a major in college, I had to do some serious soul searching.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
— Matthew 5:16 ESV

I have always felt very called to help others. I was the kid who would stop in the hallway and talk to random people I didn’t know who were crying and ask if they were okay.

When I was younger, I had a very sick family member and I watched him deteriorate over time. He was always heavily medicated, and I always wondered “what if” he wasn’t. So one day I woke up before I had to declare a major and I just knew.

I wanted to be a psychology major, and even if I was the only one, I wanted to help people and use medicine as a last resort.

Where does this all tie in you ask?

Well to be honest with you, there was a point in my life where some pretty terrible things happened to people I loved and I took it pretty hard. The people I’ve met through It Works, along with my amazing family and close friends, helped me deal with a lot of it. In fact, they saved me.

So tonight on the call, as I was reflecting over the past almost two years of my life, I realized that I am living that dream. I became someone who is helping lost souls overcome what life has thrown at them.

I help people who have lost their way.

I give people hope.

I help them feel better naturally.

I teach them about themselves.

We aren’t just a skinny wrap company or a health and skincare line. We are truly serving people. I have met some of the most loving, non-judgmental and well rounded people through this company. I have been able to do so much more than I ever imagined, and I vow to always do just that. Because if you can be that ONE person out of the crowd that reaches out a hand and makes their day a little brighter, imagine what an impact that would make on many.

So next time you see something about It Works Global or hear about it, I want you to remember this. It only takes one drop of water in a puddle to make a ripple. Be that drop.
